Investor Group Hikes Avon Stake: An alliance of powerful investors including oil fortune heir Gordon P. Getty said it had increased its stake in Avon Products Inc., the cosmetics company, to 8%. In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Chartwell Associates said it had purchased an additional 652,800 Avon shares, increasing its stake from 6.9% earlier this month. Partners in Chartwell Associates include a senior executive of Mary Kay, the Gordon P. Getty Family Trust and the Fisher real estate family of New York.
