No More ‘Sunrises’ for Palmer: John Palmer, who lost his news anchor job on NBC’s “Today” to Deborah Norville, is leaving the network to anchor a syndicated newsmagazine show, “Only Yesterday,” for King World, the distributors of “Wheel of Fortune” and “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” The veteran NBC newsman, currently seen on NBC’s early-morning “Today at Sunrise,” had been in negotiations to be an anchor on a Miami TV station before taking the King World job. Created by former ABC News executive Av Westin, the new head of reality-based programming for King World, “Only Yesterday” will premiere in fall 1990.
