Woman Crossing Freeway Is Killed
A woman was struck by a car and killed apparently while attempting to cross the Costa Mesa Freeway on foot early Saturday evening, officials said.
Details of the incident were sketchy Saturday evening, and coroner’s officials were still trying to identify the woman by her fingerprints, Deputy Coroner C. Ellingburgh said.
The woman, who had been carrying a bag containing clothing, was struck by a car traveling south between Dyer Road and McFadden Avenue, Ellingburgh said.
The California Highway Patrol could not provide details Saturday evening.
