The City Council has created a Cultural Affairs Commission and appointed three residents to other city committees.

Judy Liebeck was appointed to the Historical, Archeological and Paleontological Committee as a historian. Lois Butler and Summer Rieser were named to the Irvine Child Care Committee.

The Cultural Affairs Commission will develop, foster and promote the arts in the city, said Pat Fierro, Irvine manager of cultural affairs. In mid-December, each council member will appoint one person from the community to the new commission. Its first meeting will be Jan. 10, and it will meet regularly on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.
