Not to be outdone by neighboring Beverly Hills, which is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee, the city of West Hollywood is throwing a $10,000 party today to celebrate its fifth birthday.

From 6 to 9:30 p.m., three party sites will be open to highlight the city’s diverse population.

At the Sports Connection, 8612 Santa Monica Blvd., the city’s east-end Russian culture will be celebrated. Jewish and Russian food will be served, and entertainment will be provided by a Russian gymnastics team.
