PacTel Venture Wins British License: Pacific Telesis is a 20% partner in a consortium led by British Aerospace that was offered one of three licenses to operate a new wireless phone system called a “personal communications network.” A PCN assigns calling numbers to individuals rather than to particular telephones, and the network is accessed by use of the number and a programmed card.
