Software Toolworks to Buy Mindscape

Software Toolworks Inc., a Chatsworth company that publishes entertainment and instructional personal computer software, said it has agreed to buy Mindscape Inc., a Northbrook, Ill., personal computer software publisher, in a stock swap worth about $20 million. Software Toolworks said the deal would give it access to Mindscape’s licensing and publishing agreement with video game maker Nintendo of America and the ownership of software publishing and distribution companies in Europe and the Pacific Rim.
