Consumers Warned on Food Supplement

WASHINGTON —
The Food and Drug Administration is urging consumers not to use an over-the-counter food supplement distributed by a Pennsylvania company because some bottles contain capsules with potentially fatal levels of stannous fluoride.
Vitamin Specialities Co. of Wyncote, Pa., has asked its 22 retail stores in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania to recall acidophilus capsules with lot number 069296 and has notified 140 mail-order customers, the FDA said.
