Winners of essay contest on “Oct. 12, 1492: the Meeting of Two Worlds” were announced by USC’s Office of Civic and Community Relations. The top four winning entrants were Jeffrey Starnes of Riverside, Melody Roof of San Diego, Celia Patricia Juarez of El Centro and Araceli Lerma of Garfield High School in East Los Angeles. An awards ceremony was held at Plaza de La Raza.
