Chrysler to Idle Two Plants: The No. 3 auto maker said it will close its car assembly plants in Newark, Del., and St. Louis starting next week, idling about 6,800 workers until Jan. 16 because of high inventories. Chrysler’s Newark plant builds the mid-sized Dodge Spirit and Plymouth Acclaim sedans. Its St. Louis No. 2 plant makes the Dodge Daytona and Chrysler LeBaron coupes and convertibles.
