2 Men Sought as Murder Witnesses
Sheriff’s homicide detectives Thursday were trying to locate two men seen in a pickup truck they believe are witnesses in the murder case of two Bell residents buried near the Salton Sea.
Investigators said the motorists could be valuable prosecution witnesses against the three suspects in the deaths of Kenneth Masters, 65, and James Hetsler, 39.
Detectives said Masters and Hetsler were killed in Bell on Sept. 21 and their bodies were driven the next morning to the desert. The killers used the victims’ 1972 green four-door Ford LTD to take the bodies to their shallow graves, Deputy Chris Wahla said. During the trip the sedan became stuck in the sand along Coachella Canal Road. The two men in a pickup truck helped free the car from the sand, Wahla said.
