DEATH PER FATAL ACCIDENT RATE

The ratio of deaths per alcohol-related fatal accident turned downward in 1988, falling to 1.08 deaths per accident from 1987’s mark of 1.16. Prior to 1987, the rate had fallen for three consecutive years, reaching 1.08 in 1986. The 1988 figure is slightly higher than the 1.05 recorded in 1981, a 10-year low point.
