STATE : Slaying Victim’s Father Stricken
The father of a 20-year-old immigrant woman who was abducted from a Carson drive-in theater, raped and murdered, suffered a mild heart attack when told of his daughter’s death, relatives of the slain woman said today.
Roberto Franco, father of the slain Irene Franco of Wilmington, was said to be recovering at his home, outside of the Mexican city of Guadalajara.
Franco’s roommate, Irma Plascensia, also 20, said the two were “like sisters,” and indicated she will accompany Franco’s body to Mexico for burial. Arrangements are pending, she said.
Franco and Jesus Martinez, 26, were abducted from a Carson drive-in movie theater Friday night. Franco’s body was found Saturday morning dumped in a field in the Willowbrook area. She had been shot in the back of the head. Severely beaten with a board, Martinez managed to summon police. He is recovering from his injuries.
