AT&T; to Trim Rates: American Telephone & Telegraph said it will pass on to customers, effective Jan. 1, about $300 million in savings next year when local carriers reduce fees for completing long-distance calls. Rates will drop 1.3% for calls during normal weekday business hours and 2% from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Friday. A 10-minute call anywhere in the United States will cost a maximum of $2.50 during business hours and $1.32 or less at night and on weekends, AT&T; said.
