SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, DANA POINT : Crackdown Planned on Drunk Drivers

Share

The Orange County Sheriff Department will increase street patrols during the holidays in San Juan Capistrano and Dana Point in an effort to control drunk driving.

In a program that started Monday and will last through Jan. 1, a special team will be assigned in each city “to look out specially for people driving under the influence” of alcohol and drugs, said Capt. Doug Storm.

Team members will drive white squad cars rather than black-and-white patrol vehicles “to be more visible,” said Storm.

It is the first time either city has assigned a special force to deal with drunk drivers.

“We have been talking with both cities, and they are very enthusiastic” about the program, Storm said.
