Navy Considering Suspending IBM Business: A Navy committee has been given three months to determine if proceedings should start to suspend business with International Business Machines Corp., according to documents obtained by the Baltimore Sun. In a Dec. 15 memo to the Department of the Debarment Committee signed by Dan Howard, undersecretary of the Navy, the committee was asked to review allegations raised in recent congressional hearings on procurement irregularities involving IBM and the Navy. The House Government Operations Committee has been examining allegations that IBM has enjoyed preferential treatment by the Navy for computer contracts.
