Pasadena : Inspections to Be Reviewed
Objections from real estate companies over a proposed $103 increase in the inspection fee the city charges any new homeowner has prompted the Board of Directors to create a subcommittee to review the city’s need for inspections.
The increase would mean homeowners would have to pay $154 for an occupancy inspection for health, safety and building code violations.
The subcommittee also will decide whether the inspections benefit--and should be partly paid for by--the city.
The board also approved revisions designed to improve the program under which city inspectors examine multifamily dwellings every four years and single-family homes on a change in ownership.
