Pasadena : City Loosens Rules for Tents

Homeowners who want to put up a tent in their back yard for entertaining or fund raising will be able to do so legally without obtaining a city permit, under a Zoning Code amendment approved Tuesday by the Board of Directors.

The tent amendment allows people to erect tents smaller than 800 square feet twice a year for no longer than 36 hours each time. The amendment also allows people without a permit to put up tents for fewer than three days in the Rose Bowl area of the Arroyo Seco.

Permits will be required for tents in other open space areas and for larger tents or those left standing for longer periods of time. The fee is $404.
