PCH Repair Work May Last 5 Months
Repair work on a two-mile stretch of Pacific Coast Highway through Long Beach and Wilmington will slow traffic for as long as five months beginning early next month, Caltrans officials said.
Work on the $1.1-million project, which will be suspended during rush hours, will affect the highway from the Long Beach Freeway interchange west to Alameda Street in Wilmington, Caltrans spokesman Thomas Knox said.
The contract, awarded to Industrial Asphalt of Irwindale, bans repair work from 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays.
Nearby streets also may be closed intermittently for short times during the project, Knox said.
