DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford Motor Co., observing the fourth anniversary of its Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable models, said U.S. manufacturers can “design and sell cars that meet or outdo what the Japanese can offer.”
The models were introduced Dec. 26, 1985, “the first time in automotive history that any company had launched a new product on the day after Christmas,” Ford said in a statement Monday.
