Of all the low-priced blockbuster movies released in the last few years--including “Top Gun,” “E.T.” and the Disney cartoon features--”Batman” is the strongest rental. The Caped Crusader has ruled the Billboard magazine rental chart all this month, fending off some strong competition. Though millions of consumers have purchased “Batman,” there are obviously still legions of fans who are interested in it strictly as a rental. If “Batman” weren’t around, one of those hot Bill Murray comedies--”Ghostbusters II” (No. 2) or “Scrooged” (No. 3)--would certainly be No. 1 by now. But “When Harry Met Sally . . .,” a new release that is expected to show up on the chart next week, may be “Batman’s” fiercest competitor.

* In the late ‘70s, the Richard Pryor-Gene Wilder team ruled the comedy-thriller genre. The team hasn’t lost its touch. In “See No Evil, Hear No Evil,” a blind man (Pryor) and his deaf buddy (Wilder), witness a murder. Fans loved it ($45 million box-office gross); critics were mixed. It debuted at No. 20 but could make the Top Five.
