COMICS: Unlike some comic artists on display at the Fullerton Museum Center’s “The Art of the Comic Book” (F41), Ferd Johnson, who has drawn “Moon Mullins” for 60 years, never ran afoul of the Comics Code Authority, which barred everything from “displays of corrupt authority” to “poor grammar.” . . . Still drawing in Newport Beach, Johnson said the only real trouble he had was years ago when he used an ethnic slur for a Polish person. “Boy, the whole West Side of Chicago threatened to cancel, so we never did it again.”
