Censorship Vigilance

Share

As a lifelong special librarian, I was gratified to read the extensive coverage by Allan Parachini and Dennis McDougal of a crucial issue: “Censorship: A Decade of Tighter Control of the Arts,” Dec. 25.

At least censorship is now out in the open, which is an achievement in itself. Of course, the American Library Assn. will be on the alert on behalf of intellectual freedom, which is part and parcel of our code of ethics. To ignore censorship in any form, hoping it will eventually go away, is completely unacceptable to any dedicated professional.
