New $100-Million Plant Is Planned by Philips

ANN ARBOR, Mich. —
Philips Display Components Co. has announced plans to build a $100-million plant to produuce color television picture tubes and future products for high-definition television applications.
Initially, more than 300 new jobs will be created by the plant’s construction, said Philips Display, a division of North American Philips Corp.
Although a specific plant location has not yet been selected, Philips is currently considering several sites in Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee and Kentucky.
The new plant is expected to be built in two phases.
