‘Les Miz’ Strikes It Rich: The poverty-stricken characters in “Les Miserables” are lining the pockets of investors of the smash Broadway musical. Variety reported that, as of Sunday, the Cameron Mackintosh production earned $29.4 million in net profit from its four current U.S. companies. That number places the show in third place on the all-time profit list, behind “Cats,” the leader in U.S. net profit with $49 million, and “A Chorus Line” at $35 million. The four “Les Miz” shows have been netting an average of about $358,000 a week since May.
