New World Deal: Trans-Atlantic Pictures said it acquired for cash most of the motion picture and video assets of New World Entertainment, an independent production company controlled by investor Ronald O. Perelman. Trans-Atlantic was recently formed by Lawrence Kuppin and Harry Evans Sloan, former co-chairmen of New World, and Bob Bennett, former president of Metromedia Broadcasting. The acquisition includes 180 feature films, excluding domestic TV and cable rights, along with video rights to more than 200 hours of TV programming and other assets. The deal does not include assets of New World Television.
