VIET POLLS: Ron Kovic’s possible candidacy here (A1) sparks memories of another Vietnam vet who later opposed the war and ran for office in Orange County. . . . Edison W. Miller, a former POW and political ally of Jane Fonda and Tom Hayden, was appointed by Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. in 1979 to the Board of Supervisors but lost in 1980 to Republican Bruce Nestande. . . . Now a San Jose lawyer, Miller says he got a rude reception: “I got calls at 2 or 3 in the morning, saying they were going to kill me, my wife, my kids, my cat. The hatred and bitterness . . . left a real bad taste in my mouth.”
