Mario Lemieux extended his point-scoring streak to 31 games by scoring four goals at New York Monday night to lead the Pittsburgh Penguins over the Rangers, 7-5.

Lemieux scored twice in each of the first two periods for the 24th hat trick of his career and his sixth four-goal game. Mark Recchi added two goals for the Penguins.

The victory came only hours after Pittsburgh completed a six-player trade with Vancouver. None of the players involved dressed for the game.
