WORLD IN BRIEF : CAMBODIA : Diplomats to Seek Way to End Conflict

Diplomatic efforts began in Paris and Beijing to try to end the 11-year-old Cambodian conflict after reports of guerrilla attacks in the capital and the second-largest city. France called a meeting next week of the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council to discuss the issue, and a Soviet deputy foreign minister arrived in Beijing for talks on Cambodia with Chinese officials. Moscow backs the pro-Vietnamese government while China arms the guerrillas.
