New York publisher Simon & Schuster has acquired Janus Book Publishers Inc., a Hayward, Calif., textbook firm, for an undisclosed price . . . RJR Nabisco Inc. said it has completed the sale of its Del Monte processed foods business to a group formed by Merrill Lynch & Co. for $1.475 billion . . . The $14-billion merger of Time Inc. and Warner Communications Inc. to form the world’s largest media and entertainment firm was completed.
