Collins, Milli Vanilli Battle for Top Spot

Phil Collins and Milli Vanilli are playing musical chairs with the top spot on the Billboard chart. Collins’ ” . . . But Seriously” reclaimed No. 1, bouncing the Milli Vanilli duo’s “Girl You Know It’s True” back to second place. But Collins shouldn’t get too comfortable up there. Milli Vanilli’s single “All or Nothing” is so hot--with definite No. 1 potential--that it’s bound to push their album back to No. 1. Quincy Jones’ “Back on the Block” is shaping up into a big hit, climbing five notches to No. 16.

* This album by promising white-soul singer Michael Bolton was off to such a slow start over a half-year ago, that it seemed doomed. But his single, “How am I Supposed to Live Without You”--which rose to top of the pop chart this week--salvaged the “Soul Provider” album, which jumped 10 places to No. 22.
