Rap Singer Reports Racial Vandalism

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department is investigating two reported vandalism attacks on the Thousand Oaks house of rap singer Easy-E, whose lawn decorations and garage door were defaced with racial epithets, said Detective Brent Kerr.

Three racial slurs were written across the garage door last Saturday between 6:30 a.m. and 11:15 p.m., according to a police report. An earlier attack, which occurred around Christmas, left similar slurs on two lawn ducks, according to Kerr. Both incidents were reported last Saturday, he said.

The North Ranch house on Partridge Court belongs to Eric Wright, a rap musician from Compton who performs using the name Easy-E and also runs the production company Ruthless Records. Wright moved into the house about a month ago, and told sheriff’s deputies he knew of no motive for the attacks, said Kerr.

Wright, through associates, declined to be interviewed. Kerr said there are no suspects or leads in the case.
