East Hartford, Conn. —
Ansett World Aviation Services of Australia has ordered $110 million worth of jet engines from Pratt & Whitney to power as many as 12 Airbus aircraft, Pratt & Whitney said.
Ansett ordered PW4000 engines for six A300-600R Airbus twin jets, a total of 14 engines including spares, and took options on 12 more engines to power another six planes, said Pratt & Whitney, a unit of United Technologies Corp.
If Ansett chooses to order all 26 engines, the value of the orders would be $225 million, Pratt & Whitney said.
Pratt & Whitney claims its PW400 is the most fuel efficient, high thrust engine ever developed.
