ANAHEIM : Council Will Vote on Gun Dealer Law

Share

Gun dealers who sell concealable firearms would have to register with the Police Department and pay an annual license fee of $200 under an ordinance that the City Council is expected to approve tonight.

The city decided to impose the new fee because of a recent legal opinion by the state attorney general requiring that police agencies establish licensing procedures for businesses selling concealable firearms such as pistols and revolvers. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department and the cities of Cypress and Fountain Valley have already imposed similar fees.

According to the U.S. Treasury Department, there are 60 federally licensed gun dealers in Anaheim.
