FOUNTAIN VALLEY : Council Names Voss Replacement
After two unsuccessful tries, the City Council appointed a new member to replace ousted Councilman Fred Voss.
Howard Stevens, a former Fountain Valley city manager and director of finance, was named to fill the vacancy created last November when Voss was recalled from office after a conviction of soliciting a prostitute on Harbor Boulevard in Santa Ana.
The remaining four council members had deadlocked twice over the selection of Voss’ successor.
Mayor Laurann Cook expressed relief at Stevens’ selection.
“We are pleased that after a long six to eight months, we have found a council member that we all wholeheartedly agree upon.”
