TIMES STAFF WRITER

Mrs. G. W. Buck of Seal Beach would like to find some lightweight garden hose that collapses flat when the water is turned off; so far, her search has been one long dry spell, and she wonders whether the product is still being made. Can you get Buck turned on again, or should she give up the wait as long as her aspirations hold no water?

Sally Dewald of Colton is looking for a Size-14 frosted-denim split skirt ; the only one she has seen was worn by a woman who said she’d bought it in Utah. Can you bring Dewald down to size, or will she develop a split personality over her material needs?

Ann of Fullerton needs a VHS videotape for relaxation and meditation (no subliminal messages or instructions); she’s interested in scenes with music that show fish in aquariums, birds, woods etc. Can you stop relaxing for a minute and put Ann’s mind at ease, or will she not be out of the woods until she has different fish to fry?

Reader-to-Reader-Help Line: For her mother and herself, Wendy at (619) 934-6026 is on the lookout for Plasticare hair conditioner by Noble Products of Montreal; she has been told it’s no longer being made. Please see to it that the old adage “hair today, gone tomorrow” finds no application in this case. . . . Billie at (818) 794-0230 would like to replace her old La Machine food processor , which evidently is no longer on the market. How would somebody out there enjoy being a “process server” for Billie? Food for thought, isn’t it? . . . Elizabeth at (213) 927-0574 needs two patterns from the 1984 Butterick catalogue: a Misses 6070 suit and a 6188 pantsuit, both in Size 12 . Wouldn’t it be nice if somebody could suit Elizabeth to a tea, or perhaps even a dinner?

Jean Olson of Ventura, who needs small bottles of contact-lens cleaner, can dry her tears. Marian Mirkin of Rolling Hills Estates states she gets small disposable bottles containing 3cc of saline solution at the Palm Desert Pharmacy near Palm Springs, but she believes any old-fashioned pharmacy should be able to help. Bill Schmidt of Belair Surgical Supply in Ventura, (805) 647-8219, writes that they stock vials with a screw top that hold 8 ounces. Marilyn Helmers of Los Angeles says Fedco and Thrifty sell Unisol in half-ounce tubes in boxes of 25. And Frances Shanks of Pomona suggests using empty spice jars.
