Apple Computer Inc.: The Cupertino, Calif., maker of personal computers said first-quarter profit declined 11% from the year-ago period to $124.8 million. Revenue totaled almost $1.5 billion, up 6%. Included in the quarter were $33.7 million in expenses related to cost-reduction programs and damages from the October Bay Area Earthquake. The company said sales of its Macintosh Plus and Apple II computers declined, while sales to the business market of its newer Macintosh models increased significantly.
