From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A retired auto worker charged with war crimes in the rounding up of thousands of Jews sent to Nazi death camps was ordered released on $100,000 bail. Czechoslovakia-born Stephen Reistetter, 75, also surrendered his passport and was ordered by Ontario Supreme Court Justice Ed Then in Toronto to report to police every week and not to travel more than 148 miles from his home in St. Catharine’s, Ontario. His lawyer said later that Reistetter is having trouble raising funds to back the bond that would gain his release pending trial.
