Pope Will Visit Czechoslovakia

VATICAN CITY —
Pope John Paul II accepted an invitation Saturday to visit Czechoslovakia, whose now-ousted hard-line Communist regime he condemned in 1987 as a persecutor of Roman Catholics.
The trip is expected to take place before national elections, scheduled for June.
Czechoslovakia will be only the second country of Eastern Europe to be visited by the pontiff, who has traveled three times to his native Poland.
