NATION : Ex-Senator Snowmobiles at 92
Two months after being released from a hospital and one month after turning 92, former Sen. Margaret Chase Smith (R-Me.) felt so good she went out for a snowmobile ride.
“I feel fine,” she said. “I wouldn’t be going snowmobiling if I didn’t.”
Smith rode Saturday on the back of a snowmobile driven by a niece, Anne Herrin of Canaan, with Smokey’s Angels Snowmobile Club. Smith, who celebrated her 92nd birthday on Dec. 14, spent about a week at hospitals in Illinois and Maine in November after she became ill on a plane flight.
