United Technologies Corp.: The Hartford, Conn., firm reported a record $702.1 million in profit for 1989, up 6.5% from 1988. Revenue rose 7% to $19.8 billion. The company, which makes a variety of products including aircraft jet engines, helicopters and elevators, credited continued improvement in the operating performance of its core businesses.
