WORLD IN BRIEF : HAITI : Key Dissident Jailed, News Is Censored

Haiti’s military government arrested a prominent businessman and told radio and television stations they were forbidden to report on the continuing political crackdown. Relatives of Antoine Izmery, 45, one of Haiti’s main importers, said Izmery was arrested while driving to work. They said Izmery, a vocal critic of the government of Lt. Gen. Prosper Avril, had been told that he would be deported.
