Nature Conservancy Makes Biggest Land Buy Yet: In the largest private environmental land purchase in history, the conservation group Nature Conservancy will take possession of Gray Ranch, a 321,703-acre spread in New Mexico’s Hidalgo County. The ranch contains almost the entire Animas Mountain range and will protect almost 100 endangered threatened, rare or sensitive species.
