Musicians Extend Talks: The contract between the American Federation of Musicians and the Recording Industry of America expires today, but negotiators are working into the evening at AFM headquarters in New York and have agreed to extend talks through the end of the week. They are bogged down over discussions on the future of two funds that the record industry currently supports but seeks to eliminate: the Music Performance Trust Fund, which provides free public performances by AFM musicians, and the Special Payments Fund, which provides payments to studio musicians.
