New Camaros Reportedly OKd: General Motors apparently has approved plans to build the next generation of the Chevrolet Camaro and its sister sports car, the Pontiac Firebird, the trade journal Automotive News reported. The cars, whose designs have changed little since 1982, likely would debut in 1993, it said. The Camaro and Firebird are built in Van Nuys, but last fall GM said it would shift the cars’ production to another facility if the auto maker approved a new generation of the cars.
