Man With Flare for Teaching Freed
A U.S. lecturer arrested carrying a flare he said he used to keep his students alert was freed Tuesday after police questioned him for 20 hours.
John Dolan, 40, from California told police he sometimes activates the device when giving lectures if he finds students’ attention waning.
He was arrested at Dublin airport Monday night after scanning machines detected the flare in a hollowed-out book. After checks with U.S. authorities, Irish police said they were satisfied Dolan had no terrorist intentions and released him.
