Long Beach : Grabinski Named Transit Board’s Vice Chairman
Long Beach Councilman Ray Grabinski has been named vice chairman of the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission, the regional agency that is developing the countywide metro rail system.
Grabinski was appointed to serve on the 11-member commission in 1988 by the Long Beach City Council. As vice chairman, Grabinski will be next in line to assume the chairman’s seat, just filled by county Supervisor Edmund D. Edelman.
The Blue Line, first segment of the 150-mile county rail system, is to open in July, connecting Los Angeles and Long Beach. A line encircling downtown Long Beach is scheduled to open in September.
