Inglewood Seeks Rose Parade Spot

Share

In an attempt to give the city a rosier image, Inglewood plans to apply for a spot in next year’s Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena.

The City Council on Tuesday agreed to spend $150,000 to build a float, although the city must receive approval from the Tournament of Roses Assn. before it can participate. A decision is expected in April or May.

Mayor Edward Vincent said the float would give the city an opportunity to show off the All-America City award it received last year from the National Civic League. He said the “Fun ‘n’ Games” theme of next year’s parade is ideal for Inglewood, which is home to the Forum and Hollywood Park.

Inglewood participated in the parade 15 times between 1916 and 1978 and won four awards for its entries in the 1950s.
