Councilman Under Fire Unexpectedly Resigns

Tom Thurman, 35, submitted his letter of resignation just 2 1/2 months before his four-year council term was scheduled to expire in April. Thurman said he had opportunity to take a job as a retail cashier, a night job, which would interfere with his duties as a council member. Thurman also said he was tired of the bickering among council members.
