Compaq Computer Corp.: The personal computer maker said 1989 earnings rose 31% to $333.3 million, while revenue jumped 39% to $2.87 billion. In the fourth quarter, earnings dropped 14% to $79.05 million. But revenue rose 18% to $788.14 million. The Houston firm, which has delayed distribution of its latest desktop computer because of a faulty chip, said its quarterly profit slipped for only the second time in its eight-year history.
